He hangs out with me daily on our 40" Carver striper fishing on Texoma. In fact, they were so popular, that the court of Queen Victoria had a few of these dogs as pets. In the early 19th century, the Dachshund was found to be such a friendly and lovable dog that they began to be popular as a companion pet rather than hunting dog. They were specifically bred to hunt and flush badgers and other vermin.
The Dachshund is a German breed that originated in the 1500s from Spaniels, Terriers, French Basset Hounds, Pinschers, and Braques. The Smooth Foxie Doxie is named after its parent breeds, the Dachshund and the Smooth Fox Terrier.
